Gen. cartulary, 13th cent. (c.1245?), written in book-hand with rubrics etc. and occasional red initials.

Arranged in sections mainly topographically (papal charters, fos. 6-9; royal and episcopal documents, fos. 48-51; compositions and fines, fos. 60-4; leases by the abbey, fos. 66ff.) and elsewhere passim.

The whole severely damaged by fire, 1731, and the leaves now mounted. Extracts, 1627, for Sir E. Dering, are in BM. Stowe 924, fos. 48-87 and Add 6037, fos. 75-121; others, taken from these c. 1800, are in Cambridge U.L., Add.4156.
