Gen. cartulary, 13th cent. (c.1245?), written in book-hand with rubrics etc. and occasional red initials.

Arranged in sections mainly topographically (papal charters, fos. 6-9; royal and episcopal documents, fos. 48-51; compositions and fines, fos. 60-4; leases by the abbey, fos. 66ff.) and elsewhere passim.

The whole severely damaged by fire, 1731, and the leaves now mounted.

Extracts: 1627, for Sir E. Dering, are in BM Stowe 924, fos. 48-87 and Add 6037, fos. 75-121; others, taken from these c. 1800, are in Cambridge U.L., Add.4156.
